Christalite Methodist Home Field Trip

On September 27th, we went to the Christalite Methodist Home. This home is for people who don't have enough money for homes or they do't have family So the government build the Christalite Methodist Home for the people. The home has many activities to do. A lot of them are exercise equipment things like ping pong, and an Xbox. Our class did art activities with them. We made cotton ball penguins. Then, we made origami. Something unexpected that happened was that one of the uncles started singing Singaporean songs. We all clapped for him at the end of the song. 

I think it was a good experience going there.

Last Week Reflection

Last week, we had so much fun. Last week, we had our first breakout session. Breakout is when we need to find clues to open boxes. The breakout was all related to Dr. Seuss. There were some quotes from him and some secret messages hidden on them. We used a bioluminescent flashlight to help us. Our whole table used teamwork to open the boxes. We were really happy when we finished our session.

Next, we started drafting our personal narratives. We also got writing partners.  We spent a lot of time writing. 

For independent reading, I read 2 realistic fiction books. One called Scat and the other called Hoot. They are both by the same author, Carl Hiaasen. The books are about people living in Florida where he lives. He also loves the nature in Florida too. Scat is about a teacher going missing on a class field trip. While Hoot is about a pancake-house that is going to be built, and the kids are trying to stop them for a reason which would spoil the story.

That's what been happening this week.

I am from fingers clicking the Xbox,

the pop sound of the tennis ball whipped by my racket

and the big smiles when playing with friends.

I am from a humid and sunny island,

Today, I finished a page on my kenote that I'm doing. It is called the Big Bang. I also replaced the long sentences with bullet points. I did some good progress but next time, I am going to do my next page, after the Big Bang.

I did a room with paper and with a background portrait. First, I did the designs, then I outlined the designs with permanant marker. To fo thr 3D designs, I folded a paper and cut it on the fold. After that, I water coloured my paper. Here is the picture:

Today I started my presentation on the formation of the Milky Way. I also looked at some information with pictures and videos. Don't worry, I put it in my credits:). In my presentation, I put some facts about the Milky way and started out with my first slide called Big Bang. Next time, I will do more slides and write more inforamtion on my slides.

Mystery Hangout

Today, we skyped a school but we didn't know where they were. So we asked yes or no questions and we got their location. They live in Taiwan and the city is Kaohsiung and the school is Kaohsiung American School. At the end, they guessed where we were. After that, we asked them questions and they asked us questions. We also told them about our school history, and the teacher in that class was once a Singapore American School teacher! 

It was fun learning about there school and Kaohsiung.

iTime reflection 3

I leaned more about black holes and what they do. I think I should write down what materials formed galaxies. I also looked at a timeline of the galaxy. It first started out in clumps of atoms and then it spun around and formed a disk shape.

Heres what I wrote:

Black holes produces waves that trigger stars to form. That's why there are so many stars made by black holes. But they form by a dead star. The star blows up and light blows out of the star and gets away. It happens because the mass of the core can't hold it anymore so it shrinks and blows.

Awesome Atoms

Atoms are the smallest things that make up everything. An atom is made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. The nucleus of an atom is made up of nuetrons and protons. They are made up of gluons and quarks but no one knows the size of quarks but people think that they are 0 dimensional. Electrons circle the atom at a speed of 2,200 kilometers. Atoms also make up all the elements on the periodic table. The periodic table has the most basic of basic things like iron and gold. Atoms are so important becuase they make up everything in the world.

ITime reflection 2

I learned that there were a lot of things happening after the Big Bang. It also formed stars and plantes. I think that today I leaned a lot about the timeline. Next time, I will learn how the gravity works in space.

My teacher's daughter studies space so I found lot of inforamtion about galaxy formations. I really think this will help me a lot because it shows the whole timeline of galaxies.  I felt that I did a lot of work typed down. Next time, I will work on finding more information.

Emily Carr totem pole

This is a totem pole I did in art class and I used caly and  for the bottom, I used paint. I think the haedest part was doing the wings because I need to attach the wings. The wings were cardboard. It was really fun because I liked putting the clay on. Heres a picture of it.

S.E.A Aquarium

We went to S.E.A Aquarium with my class. I went into a group with 4 people. A lot of the time, I toook a lot of pictures and videos with my friends. But the pictures were really blurry most of the time because there wasn't enough light. But here are some of the photos that I took:

My ITime reflection

I did ITime today. I am working on a Keynote roght now and getting my slides ready. I worked on my introduction and I also researched how the milky way was made and how did it form. I need to remember to stay on my topic because there are so many other cool things about space. I felt my learning today was okay because I needed to get my Keynote ready. Next time I will reaserch more about my topic and spend kess time on my Keynote.
