Comparing Bits and Pieces Check Up 1

This check-up shows that I know how to model ratios with models. This also shows that I can explain my answers using correct math vocabulary and using complete sentences when explaining the ratios.
For the next check up, I need to work on using another kind of model, to show that I have different ways of figuring a problem out.

New Understanding of Chemistry

This is our new understanding of chemistry. We thought that it caused reactions, but we didn't know how it happened or what caused it to happen. We learned that we use it in everyday life; tooth paste, cooking and more. We also learned that reactions can cause a difference in temperature, color, and gas.Inline image 1

This is my final chemistry in a bag model. To improve my model, I would use an example of an experiment. The experiment was vinegar and baking soda. I also added in more detail, and used up more space to show everything. I also added in more vocabulary. My thinking changed because I now understand that it is not just chemicals mixing together, and it doesn't have to cause a chemical reaction. It can either be a physical or a chemical change.

Art 6 Photography

I took this photo in New Zealand on a jet boat in a rainforest. This photo is from the reflection category. I took the reflection photo when we stopped at a dead end and look around. I then noticed that there was a long reflection and it looked very artistic. So I pulled out my iPhone and took a few photos. I then changed the filter when editing the photo and changed the angle, so it would be more straight.

Reflection Questions:

Which category did you enjoy photographing the most?

My favourite category was 'flowers'. I enjoyed it because there were may different flowers in New Zealand, and they were all pretty. It was fun taking the pictures of flowers that I had never seen before.

Explain some strategies or process you used to help you create a Texture that was sharp, clear and focused

To create a clear texture, I needed to get as close as I could without getting the picture blurry. I then had to get down to a similar level with the object and focus it in the middle or in the front. Many of the texture photos I took had to be retaken for small adjustments on sharpness.

What was the most challenging category to photograph for this assignment how did you resolve the challenge?

The most challenging category was reflection. I needed to get a good scene, and it had to have a reflection, which is most common on bodies of water, and glass. To figure it out, I had to be near a body of water, so when we took a tour of a rainforest, I found my chance and found a very nice reflection with the trees and the water.

Which photograph are you most proud of?

I am most proud of my reflection picture. I am proud of it because I finally found a cool picture from the reflection category. The reflection and the surroundings are also very equal in proportions. One is not noticeably bigger than the other.

If you could do this assignment again what would you keep the same and what would you do differently?

I would keep my flower pictures the same because I really feel proud of those pictures. But, if I had to redo my project, I would look for more atypical angles and textures. I could have first tried to find textures, so it wouldn't be hard to find later on. I would then take the photos for atypical angles. I feel like I could have found more of them if I looked better.

Initial Thoughts on Chemistry

                                 Inline image 1
When I think of chemistry, I think of two components or chemicals making something new or different. This would be a reaction between the two chemicals.
The flask shows chemicals mixing together. The mixture rising up from the flask is an example of a reaction that my table thinks of when we hear the word "chemistry".
