PE 1st Guarter Reflection

6th Grade PE / Health 1st Quarter Reflection

MOVEMENT PATTERN:
Striking & Rotations: Striking an object with an implement using correct weight transfer and torso rotation.

  • What are the three ways that I demonstrated the striking and rotations movement pattern throughout this cluster?
  • I demonstrated the striking and rotations pattern when hitting a forehand and backhand shot, throwing the ball to the bases in softball, and smashing the birdie in badminton.

  • Hitting a softball, while demonstrating striking and rotations, I can get into a side stance, and I can bend my knees and be in a balanced position.

  • To continue to improve my softball strike and rotation, I will need to work on transferring my weight through the ball. I will do that by focusing on contacting the ball, then transferring my weight.

  • Hitting a ‘birdie’, while demonstrating striking and rotations, I can move to the ball, and get direct contact with the birdie.

  • To continue to improve my badminton clear, I will need to focus on getting a side stance when getting near the birdie.

  • Hitting the tennis ball, while demonstrating striking and rotations, do a complete forehand, making contact with the ball and going from low, to high.

  • To continue to improve my tennis forehand and rotation, I will need to work on my ready position, and focus on covering my court.

What do the LEARNING BEHAVIORS look like in PE/Health?
Organization
Remembering uniform, being at class on time, being at the correct venue, reading the whiteboard, checking my calendar, bringing my laptop to health class

Responsibility
Actively engaged in class, contributing to small and whole group discussions and tasks, following instructions, making good decisions)

Collaboration
Being involved, listening to others, sharing thoughts and ideas, working together positively with group members, assisting and encouraging others, demonstrating empathy and understanding

Reflection
Reflecting on learning and setting goals to improve, seeking feedback from teacher and peers, utilising feedback - video, verbal, written, reflecting on learning behaviours and decision making, doing what’s right when nobody’s watching)

Learning Behavior Goal
  • What learning behaviour am I demonstrating well? Why? I am demonstrating collaboration. I know this because I am always involved in the sport or the activity that we are playing in.

  • What behaviour do I need to continue to improve on? Why? I need to improve on my reflection. I need to do this because I need to improve on seeking feedback from my classmates, and reflecting on decision making.

  • What actions can I take to achieve this goal? Make sure my reflections are more detailed.

5 4 3 2 1 + 8
What is my SMART Goal? Drink  6-8 7 oz of water. 42-56 ounces of water
  • Why did I choose this as my SMART Goal? In tennis and in cross country, you need to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated.
  • How am I doing with my SMART Goal? I am getting the amount of water that I need to get everyday.

  • What do I need to do over the next few weeks to make sure that my SMART Goal becomes a permanent habit? Carry a water bottle with me in appropriated areas.
